Best Maui Hikes
An entirely subjective list of the best hikes on Maui:
Ohai Loop Trail: This is a great short hike on the north side of West Maui with big views along the coastline.
Waihe’e Ridge: This incredible hike travels along a ridge into the heart of the West Maui mountains with jaw-dropping views on a clear day.
Lāhainā Pali Trail: An old road that provides a steep workout over the dry and hot southern end of West Maui
Hoapili Trail: Walk amid ancient history on this King’s Trail that traverses the harsh lava expanse of South Maui and visit several rugged beaches.
Waihou Spring Trail: This short upcountry hike offers a cool jaunt through a rainforest with a side hike to a natural spring in a deep gorge.
Wai’ānapanapa State Park: Along the Road to Hāna, this excellent state park offers a long hike along a sculpted lava coastline with a wealth of ancient history.
Kīpahulu District of Haleakalā National Park: This detached portion of the Park is along the Road to Hāna and offers a rainforest hike to a 400’ waterfall.
Sliding Sands Trail: This long and difficult hike explores a large portion of otherworldly Haleakalā crater.
Skyline Trail: Beginning inside Haleakalā National Park, this hike soon enters state land along the southwestern flanks of the volcano with magnificent views in all directions.
